A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, established in October 2010, that funds free programs, resources and services for our community.
About the FoundationSince October 2010
The Foundation provides critical support to the Jefferson County Library District, resulting in free programs, resources and services for adults, children and youth across the county — from capital projects to staff training and development. It applies for grants from community organizations and corporate donors, and seeks tax-deductible gifts from individuals and groups to benefit the whole district and support technology and professional development. Its long-range goal is an endowment fund for the library.
The Foundation hosts fundraisers, events and donor drives. It received its 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS in October 2010, after five citizens agreed to serve as its organizing board: Carroll Anderson, Eric Knoll, David Mangelsdorf, Sandy May and Vernon Sullivan.
Donor recognitionEvery year
The Foundation gives special recognition each year to major donors at these levels:
- Library Champion: $10,000 or more in one year
- Library Sponsor: $5,000 or more in one year
- Library Fan: $1,000 or more in one year
- Library Donor: $500 or more in one year
All donations to the Jefferson County Library Foundation are tax-deductible.

The board meets quarterly, on the first Tuesday of March, June, September and December.
