NotaryFree at all branches

The Jefferson County Library offers notary service at all of its branches. Notary service is free, but hours of availability vary, so please contact your branch for details.

PassportsBy appointment only

Apply for a passport book or passport card at any branch, by appointment only — call your branch to book. Make an appointment for each applicant (about 30 minutes each); every applicant must be present.

Arrive 10 minutes early. If you arrive after your appointment time, the passport agent may not have time to process your application and your appointment may be canceled.

For applicants under 16, any parent listed on the birth certificate must be present, or additional documents are required — see the application form for details.

Processing can take a while, so apply well before you travel. Current processing times and fees are on the U.S. Department of State passport site ↗. You can check your application status online about 4 weeks after applying.

See the current passport fee chart ↗ and our passport renewal tips ↗.
